The General on Abebooks

Just out of curiosity, I thought I would check to see how much “The General” goes for. My search came up with a range from $1 for a reading copy, to $1338.04 for a first edition with the dust jacket in good condition. I could hardly believe it. There must be good investments in first editions. Apparently the dust jacket had the head of Curzon on it and there were only 2000 copies printed in February of 1936. Then in June 1936 the first British edition was published in red-brown cloth printed in silver on the cover. 5000 copies were printed.
I find it interesting to know what the book would have looked like when it first came out.
